Student Writing Contest – The Results Are In!
Park Theater Company has again partnered with Verona Publishing in conducting the Student Writing Contest at St. Louis Park Junior High School. Seven original student stories have been selected by a jury of Hennepin County librarians for publication in the forthcoming short story compendium. The project is in need of support to pay for the editing, graphics and printing costs for 1,000 copies of the book. In 2014, Verona successfully published The Lantern of Truth and Other Stories from the Crypt of St. Louis Park High.
Two fundraising events have been planned at Applebee’s in St. Louis Park. On Tuesday, August 11, when you dine at Applebee’s 15% of your check will be donated to Verona/St. Louis Park Grades 6-8 Writing Contest. Applebee’s Dining to Donate form available at info@veronapublishing.com & theparktheatercomapny.com
On Saturday, September 19 starting at 8 a.m., Verona will host a pancake breakfast and silent auction at Applebee’s in St. Louis Park for the Student Writing Contest. Items for the silent auction are welcome from donors and businesses. Please contact Jerry Wilson, Verona Publishing, at 612-991-5467.
The most exciting part of this year’s contest is that one or two of the winning student stories will be made into a short film and presented at the Twin Cities Film Festival in St. Louis Park. Become a producer of this project by dining and donating at Applebee’s on August 11 and September 19!
